Engraving

ENGRAVING
Electromechanical engraving is a method of processing printing elements on rotogravure forme. It is the precise process in which the picture consisting of cells (small carrying ink - printing elements) is created on the cylinder surface. Engraving is carried out by diamond graver in copper layer plated on steel base in process of galvanisation. The chromium layer is applied after engraving. It makes cylinder tough and it provides optimal parameters for stock printing.

Engraving process is controlled and monitored fully electronically. Each cylinder is controlled for proper geometry of engraved cells. Measurement results are included in certificate delivered with every set of cylinders.

Xtreme Engraving – precise engraving with laser quality

We offer extra resolution engraving, called Xtreme Engraving, for special applications (small texts and graphics, thin lines, metallic inks).

Cells in this process are created during several cycles of engraving head. It allows precise conveying of small details and keeping parameters necessary to transfer them into a print base without loosing print density at the same time.

Xtreme Engraving allows combining small linear text ad graphic elements with traditional engraving of halftones. This method of engraving produces effects similar to direct laser engraving and etching but without flaws of both processes.

Benefits of Xtreme Engraving:
- possibility of regeneration (chromium re-plating) of cylinders engraved in Xtreme process
- higher wear resistance in comparison to cylinders engraved by laser in zinc layer
- possibility of combining traditional engraving of halftones with precise Xtreme details (dashes)
